Brian, the extension of Early Start services is not being implemented uniformly in all RC areas. This might be expected, but how are we ensuring that the children who need services are not being denied the opportunity especially given disparities that exist. Is there any expected QA efforts or are any of our partners (DRC) taking a look at this?

great question yvette, i have this exact question as well

Hey Brian and Company - a couple of questions - can someone from DDS provide a brief update on where things are (in terms of caseload, reaching families not served, provider status) with Early Start? Also can someone from DDS provide update on status of the many families and people who had issues with overtime (some - but not all in Participant Directed Services). Weere their problems or issues resolved? Has DDS heard anything regarding how they are doing? Thanks and thanks to everyone for the hard work

Are these only confirmed cases, and not suspected?
Aaron Carruthers
41:57
Pete, that was big news! Could you repeat it to make sure we got it clearly?
Yvette Baptiste

Are family resource centers/CBO included in the March 15th group? Many FRCs are open and seeing families socially distanced with masks, some are closed but doing PPE distribution or basic necessity events. As more families get vaccinated they may ask us to meet with them...just trying to think about how this will effect the organizations serving families on the ground but where staff do not meet the family caregiver criteria.

I agree - but while it does have to stop (misinformation) unfortunately that problem is ongoing and something we all have to work to counter - especially hard when whole states like Texas and MS are going the opposite direction in terms of safety protoccols, etc.

How are individual HIPAA rights protected under the new tracking features on the SANDIS system?

@Yvette Baptiste: The State's vaccination priority plan is available here: https://covid19.ca.gov/vaccines/ This site will not change as it continues to evolve based on the latest updates to the State's plan, so please bookmark it.

Question . . we are hearing that individuals must wait 90 days after they have a negative covid test . .to receive their first vaccine . .
Yvette Baptiste
01:23:55
This is a great response Vicky! Let's bottle that outreach campaign.
Pete Cervinka
01:28:56
@Debbie--Bad rumor. There is no 90-day waiting period between a negative test and vaccination. More info for each vaccine, and FAQs, are here or linked from this page: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/index.html

We wanted to say thanks to Pete and Aaron for being part of the Panel we organized. It continues to be viewed as a source of Valid information on our Facebook page and with families making comments.
Amy Wall
01:37:30
@Debbie - The 90-day rumor likely stems from the CDC guidance that if you had COVID-19 AND WERE TREATED WITH antibodies or plasma, you are supposed to wait 90-days https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/facts.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fvaccines%2Fvaccine-benefits%2Ffacts.html

Thanks Vicki for the survey info. Question for Nancy or others at DDS - how will the survey info be used as concrete next steps?
Kelly Kulzer-Reyes
01:38:11
But 1/3 said they didn’t get the support they needed. That’s quite disappointing.
Yvette Baptiste
01:44:31
Vicky would be interested to see the age breakdown for who didn't receive service they did need.
Marty Omoto
01:45:03
Follow-up question to my earlier one in the chat - how does this survey compare to results from other surveys (ie ones done by regional centers, others done by DDS (including the annual surveys done national groups with DDS)especially in area of disparities and ones done by various groups such as Autism Society of CA)? If there are major differences in outcomes of the surveys that is something that might be worth diving into further - if survey results generally compare, especially in areas of unmet needs, that should drive an effort - if not begun - to resolve them statewide, etc. Second, will DDS be conducting this survey on a regular/annual or sem-annual basis? If its considered valid, it should be done on a regular basis to create baselines that in turn can be used to help develop policies and action steps

Can we have access to the presentation?

Vicky: Great presentation!

01:57:31
Early Start should be a regular agenda item for uupdate especially given the urgency of need to provide those services

02:06:38
Can we have a sub-group like we have with the vaccines working on Early Start Child find?
Yvette Baptiste
02:08:44
Agree with Kelly now might not be the time to change that...
Sylvia Yeh
02:09:37
If possible, can we revisit "Re-Entry" timeline in the agenda next time?
Yvette Baptiste
02:13:37
I think that it might be helpful to the child find conversation if we have a presentation on the data and look at some RC best practice for child find. I heard that some RCs are not having a problem. Is that the case?
Kathryn Sanders Platnick
