To be eligible for regional center services, the regional center needs to do an assessment and determine eligibility. The best way to get started is to contact your local regional center.

Are FMS the 'employer of record?'

37:52
Here are the links to the presentation slides: https://www.dds.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Self-Advocate-Family-Meeting_presentation_11102020.pdf and Spanish: https://www.dds.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Self-Advocate-Family-Meeting_presentation_Spanish_11102020.pdf

38:49
Why, if Self-Directed services is an option, do some Regional Centers act as if it were a privilege? not all regional centers are giving this flexibility ...

39:31
Aquí están los enlaces con la presentación en español: https://www.dds .ca.gov / wp-content / uploads / 2020/11 / Self-Advocate-Family-Meeting_presentation_Spanish_11102020.pdf y en ingles: https://www.dds.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Self-Advocate-Family-Meeting_presentation_11102020.pdf

40:09
How can we help all regional centers make the same interpretation of Self-Directed Services?

40:45
DDS reently provided participant directed services training for regional centers. This should help make sure that families and regional centers have similar information about participant directed services.

42:02
Question: when is DDS going to do another selection for the self determination program before June 2021? There are many interested people in the waiting list that would like to get in the SDP now!

42:03
For the tagalog listeners, is anyone not hearing me

42:13
Como puede llegar esta informacion a las familias de Servicios dirijidos por el participante?

42:14
Could a consumer maintain their service through their current vendor and add the same service through self-directed if the two programs offer different types of service during the pandemic ie: remote vs. in-person?

42:25
Tammi, yes when the respite agency serves as the FMS, this is sometimes called employer of record.

43:46
can you provide a list or where can I find a list of all the the services regional centers manage?

44:13
From Gricelda Estrada to Everyone: 06:07 PMHow can this information about Participant Directed Services reach families?

44:24
Can you also provide training for the agency or vendor.. they usually slow the process! They follow very strict policies of their own..creating barriers during Covid 19 for all those who needed help.

44:58
Is PDS temporary? Only through COVID?

45:42
Could a consumer who receives ILS add PDS such as ILS?

47:50
Five services are permanently available as PDS: Day Care, Nursing Service, Respite, Transportation, Community Based Training. Three services are added temporarily due to covid: ILS, Personal Assistance, Supported Employment Services

48:24
Why non-medical transportation?

48:39
is IHSS apart of this?

50:47
Participant directed services is funded through the regional center. The staff you hire will be paid by your financial management services provider and they will be reimbursed by the regional center

50:52
Is the rate the same or higher if not vendored and through an FMS?

51:11
how much per hour can I pay the person I hire

51:20
The Department of Social Services is the state-level agency for IHSS

51:29
what if they do not have workers like we are often presented with

51:53
the best way to learn about rates is to ask your regional center. the rates are established for each of the participant directed services.

52:56
How about other agencies for Developmental Disabilities and Intellectual disabitiies?

53:19
If you are having difficulty identifying IHSS workers you might want to speak with your county's Public Authority and some Independent Living Centers may also help identify IHSS providers

53:24
To serve them.

53:33
for the Supported Employment services, do you mean the job coaches, or the job developers?

53:54
podrían poner los 8 servicios por favor

54:01
Being PEC/CES being a vending service of Alta Regional Center.

54:21
Perhaps the best thing would be to invite the Regional Centers, vendors and the community to the same training ... the community is confused because the centers interpret one way, the vendors another and in the middle we are the families trying to survive !!

54:21
can the parent who can work due to school closures to supervise child use the respite to pay herself?

54:30

57:48
Sara, As respite is meant to be a break for the parents, the respite provider cannot be the parent

57:57
por que el centro regional esta pagando menos que 16.25 la hora al proveedor delk servicios?

58:24
Mi Centro Regional tiene muchos problemas siguiendo las Directivas, como que no las estan entendiendo?

58:27
My Grandson requires 24/7 supervision. It has been difficult to find the number of individuals needed to meet his needs. Keeping workers and supervising them has been very stressful for me. That being said, I am glad I can choose the workers; but the stress comes in when I have to do the day to day supervision of the workers (ie absences, conflicts punctuality, etc.)

Summary FAQs for Self-Advocates and Families About Participant-Directed Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic

59:50
There's needs to be a webpage on Participant Directed Services - in addition to FAQ and the directive (the directive doesn't help a person who doesn't know much about it) Also, as I mentioned on Saturday, DDS should do one or more symposiums or townhalls featuring people who use Participant Directed Services - similar to the symposiums on Alternative Services that have been very good.

01:00:13
https://www.dds.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Summary_Participant-DirectedServices_Self-Advocate-Families_FAQ_10052020.pdf

01:00:23
Is this ONLY for the duration OF Covid? Or, do you anticipate it extending further into the future?

01:00:27
All I want to know at this point is what are the governments guidelines to reopen non residential Day Programs for adults with developmental disabilities??? There is ZERO information on this on DDS website, Regional Centers don’t know, Day Programs have no idea…the government has detailed guidelines to get your dog groomed but NOTHING for this demographic?? Extremely frustrating.

01:00:37
Could a parent of an adult living in the same household provide the PA service or ILS?

01:00:43
One question some people have - what are the services I can get from Participant Directed that a person cannot get using the traditional system of services
